Mechanical Engineering (Maintenance)

Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest branches of engineering that applies the principles of engineering to the design and construction of machines and their parts.Another appealing feature of Mechanical Engineering is that the application base of this field of study is extremely broad and diverse. Traditionally, Mechanical Engineers have to deal with concepts such as Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Kinematics and dynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Automation and Robotics, Structural Design and Analysis, Production and Manufacturing, Repair and Maintenance and many others. These concepts are applied in the process of designing state-of-the-art manufacturing units, different types of automobiles, ships,submarines,aircraft and aerospace parts and a vast assortment of industrial machinery. Mechanical Engineers also contribute in the development of various Engines, Power Plant equipments, Heating and Cooling systems e.g.Refrigerator and Air Conditioning Units etc.

Mechanical engineers not only design new mechanical systems but they are also responsible for testing, maintaining and manufacturing them. The Repair and Maintenance branch plays a great role here.

Nowadays the scope of Mechanical Engineering is expanding beyond its traditional boundaries.

Mechanical Engineers are focussing their attention towards new areas of research such as nanotechnology, development of composite materials, biomedical applications, environmental conservation, etc.

Maintenance can influences the entire plant operation, from product quality to on-time delivery, to safety records and to the impact of environmental pollutions. Poor maintenance procedures can cost a company millions of Rupees in repairs and poor quality and lost production, whereas good maintenance practices can cut production and manufacturing costs immensely.

Electronics Engineering

Electronics Engineering is a form of engineering associated with electronic circuits, devices and the equipment and systems that use them. Electronic engineering utilises a variety of different types of electronic components from the more traditional analogue components through to digital electronic components, microprocessors and microcontrollers as well as programmable logic devices.

The field of electronic engineering includes a variety more specific electronic engineering fields including : analogue electronics, digital electronics, consumer electronics, embedded systems and power electronics.

Electronics Engineers design, create, and test electronic gadgets, which can include anything from a GPS system to an Ipod.They are more concerned with the system’s smaller parts, like individual computers and circuit boards. Also,the Electronics Engineers have a different use for electricity-it’s for processing information rather than transmitting energy.
